Located in the breathtaking Northern Rockies and adjacent to the peaks of Glacier National Park and Whitefish Mountain Resort, the town of Whitefish is surrounded by hundreds of lakes, including Whitefish Lake and scenic rivers. The location of the valley keeps it safe from extreme climate changes encountered in other portions of Montana, making it ideal for year-round recreation.
With its covered sidewalk main street leading to the cultural arts center, historic depot museum and public library, this quaint, picturesque western town offers visitors a change from the fast-paced, hustle and bustle of urban life. Central Avenue is filled with a variety of quality restaurants, shopping and night life. Lodging choices range from full-service hotels and resorts, to charming inns, rustic lodges and cabins.
Whitefish attractions include two theatre companies Whitefish Theatre Company and Alpine Theatre Project , a professional dance company, symphony, Whitefish Lake Golf Club; a 36-hole golf course with spectacular views of both mountains and lakes, Great Northern Brewing Company; complete with a public tasting room. In the winter enjoy a superb cross-country skiing facility right in town. The Glacier Nordic Center featuring 12 kilometers of impeccably machine-groomed trails for both skating and classic techniques. The trails wind over rolling hills with great views of surrounding mountains and lakes. Four kilometers are lighted for night skiing.
