Canaan Valley Information

16,000-acre refuge conserving the largest high elevation valley east of the Rockies. 31-miles of roads and trails for hiking, 23-miles for biking or horseback riding and 10-miles of cross-country ski trails. Open to hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, photography, interpretation and education. 198 species of birds that occur on the refuge. Trails open one hour before sunrise and close one hour after sunset. Visitor center/office is located on Rte. 32 in Tucker County.
