Baytown Information

Grew from small sawmill and store settlement in 1824. This coastal oasis is steeped in rich history as it shares its bay with the San Jacinto Monument and battlegrounds—the birthplace of Texas—just a ferry ride away. The city is home to an abundance of wildlife and lush vegetation, including more than 300 species of birds. Baytown provides a great convenience as the coastal gateway to many points of interest, such as Houston, Galveston and numerous Bay Area attractions.

An interesting site to see while traveling through the Baytown area is the Fred Hartman Bridge, which spans the Houston Ship Channel. It boasts double diamond-shaped towers that stand as tall as a 45-story building. The cable-stayed bridge's main span is 2,475 feet, the length of eight football fields.
