Exotic Spain! What could be more passionate than the flamenco, more majestic than the Andalusian horses and more heart stopping than the" Running of the Bulls"?

This diverse country takes up the majority of the Iberian Peninsula in south western europe, with the remaining portion occupied by Portugal. A good portion of the coastline meets the western end of the Mediterranean. Spain overcame civil war and fascism in the 20th century and boasts not only UNESCO World Heritage Sites but also the largest number of World Heritage Cities. The traveller can revel in the company of friendly inhabitants, enjoy the cuisine, nightlife and world famous folklore and festivities. Spain offers not only great beaches, snowy mountains, beautiful green areas but also huge marshes and even some desert area in the south east.

A must on the tourist itinerary are the vibrant cities of Madrid, the capital, the coastal city of Barcelona, Pamplona for the "Running of the Bulls" and Seville, Granada and Cordoba for their wonderful examples of Moorish architecture. To truly indulge in the relaxed lifestyle, a visit to the idyllic Balearic and Canary Islands has to be included on the agenda. Spain welcomes immigration from its neighbours within the Iberian Peninsula, to former colonies, former citizens and descendants, and individuals from these categories may acquire accelerated Spanish citizenship. Migration from relatively poor or politically unstable areas of South America is also contributing to the growth of the population.

Spain is divided into autonomous regions, some have other official languages besides Spanish, and their own unique historical tradition so travellers should always be respectful of the customs of each area.
