New Zealand is slightly to the west of the International Date Line, which means that is one of the first places on earth to see each new day. It is 12 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +12). This means a significant adjustment for travellers from across the globe. In the summer months, New Zealand uses ‘daylight saving’, with clocks put forward one hour to GMT+13. Daylight saving begins on the last Sunday in September and ends on the first Sunday of the following April.
