Auckland Information

Auckland is New Zealand's largest and most culturally diverse city. Consistently rated as one of the world's most livable cities, it's a melting pot of European, Asian and South Pacific cultures, overlaid with a strong Maori heritage, all of which makes for some fantastic dining and shopping experiences. Set in a landscape of extinct volcanoes with rainforest covering the surrounding hills, Auckland's waterside location has fostered the locals' love affair with the sea. One look at its two magnificent harbours and you'll understand why it's been nicknamed 'The City of Sails'. A highlight attraction is the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Housed in one of New Zealand’s finest heritage buildings, it tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific and its people. As well as the wealth of natural attractions close by the city, you can also visit Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World where you can get up close and personal with life on the frozen continent.
