See all locations in Gyeonggi-doBaengnyeongdo Island is located in the West Sea, and it is named so from a legend that tells of a young man who died of love and numerous white cranes flew in and covered his body. The name means 'white crane wings.' The places to visit in Baekryeongdo Island are Sagot Beach and Dumunjin Beach. Sagot Beach is famous for its natural landing strip, similar to Italy's Naples, and the dark cone pine trees along its shoreline are very beautiful. When the water recedes, you can see the white sandbank where cargo planes used to land, and because the sand is so soft, they say the planes leave no tire tracks.
The Dumunjin Beach, on the other hand, is famous for its vertical cliffs and Giamgoeseok (strange and fantastic looking rocks). You can see many rocks with interesting names, such as Candle Rock, Brother Rock, Elephant Rock, and others that resemble the shapes they are named after. In addition, Baekryeongdo Island has pristine natural habitats, including a variety of rare plant life. Along the shore of Dumunjin Beach, you can also see the Reunification Observation Tower, from which you can see North Korea. On the beach there are many local houses that rent out fishing boats. If you love fishing, it's a good idea to try renting one here.
