Duty free goods are readily available at most airports.

The following can be freely imported into Japan:

200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, 250 grams of tobacco or 250 grams of a combination of these items

An additional equal quantity of Japanese made tobacco articles which were acquired duty free outside Japan, may be imported.

Alcohol (20 years or older): 3 bottles of alcoholic beverages (of about 0.750 litres each).

Perfume: 2 ounces / 56grams

Gifts and souvenirs: up to JPY 200,000

Prohibited goods:

Firearms and ammunition.

Narcotics.

Obscene or inhuman films, materials, pictures, publications.

Counterfeit money.

Any plants or vegetables with soil.
