The Amalfi Coast lies southwest of Napoli (Naples) and hugs a 50km coastline on the south side of Sorentine Peninsular. It's stretches from Salerno in the south up to Sorrento on the northern side of the peninsular. You'll find quaint villages interspersed with multimillion dollar mansions and luxury resorts in this spectacularly beautiful region of Italy. Each of the villages along the coast is spectacular in it's own right and you'll want to stop to experience each one.
The steep mountainsides along the rugged coastline have been tamed by row upon row of terraced gardens and, depending on the season, overflow with magnificent flowers and vibrant lemon groves. Whitewashed hotels and colourful buildings cling to the hills with streets that snake down to the sparkling Tyrrhenian Sea.
Some of the notable towns along the coast are Amalfi, Furore and Praiano but wherever you find yourself on this unique coast you'll feel the true warmth of southern Italy in the smiles of every local you meet. This is a truly beautiful place and is definitely worth visiting when in Italy.
