Ennis Information

Ennis is the sixth largest town in Ireland and is situated only 20km from Shannon airport. The word Ennis means Island in irish and unsurprisingly Ennis is situated on an island created by by a fork in the river Fergus. Like many modern Irish towns, Ennis has it origins in the 12th century when O'Brien family built a residence in the local area. SInce then it has grown in size and importance but still remains true to its ancient past.

The town centre features narrow medieval streets and and laneways set amidst many 1000 year old buildings. There are many great shops hidden away in the side streets and the restaurants have a reputation for the best selection of fine food in Ireland.
