Antrim Information

County Antrim boasts a number of attractions for visitors, not least among these is Belfast, Antrim's first city (split with County Down). With its traditional pubs and magnificent Victorian architecture, Belfast is quickly becoming one of Northern Ireland's most popular tourist destinations. Among other things, visitors can appreciate the amazing Victoria Square shopping centre, wander along the city's Golden Mile, have a meal and drinks in one of Belfast's numerous restaurants and pubs, and settle in for a night of traditional Irish music in the Cathedral Quarter.

Outside Belfast, Antrim offers a wide range of other sites and activities close at hand. At the northern tip of the County is Portrush, a coastal resort town popular for its lovely beaches and world-class golf course. To the southeast of Portrush is the village of Bushmills, home of the famous Bushmills' Whiskey distillery. A short distance from Bushmills (and Portrush) is the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Giant's Causeway, a spectacular rock formation consisting of over 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns.

Add to this list over twenty picturesque towns and villages, beautiful, rugged landscapes ideal for trekking, and a number of medieval castles and ruins and you can understand why County Antrim is such an attractive location for an increasing number of visitors to Northern Ireland each year.
