Lake Heviz is the second largest thermal lake in the world, and the largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Balaton is also in Hungary. Hortobágy National Park contains a part of the largest area of natural grassland in Europe. Hungary is also blessed when it comes to impressive architecture. It is home to the largest synagogue in Europe, the Great Synagogue, and also has its share of stunning churches, castles and impressive historic sites. The Esztergom Basilica is the third largest church in Europe.
The second largest city is Debrecen; Eger is famous for its baroque buildings, castles and wines. Aggtelek has beautiful caves full of stalagmites. The former royal palace is situated at Godollo and to see an historic preserved village a visit to Holloko is a must.
