Grenada has a tropical climate, with a hot and humid rainy season from June to December and a dry season, cooled by trade winds from January to May. All of the islands have very similar climate conditions, although more variation is experienced on Grenada due to the altitude in the interior. Temperatures during the wet season range from 24ºC to 30ºC, with averages in the coolest months from 16ºC to 23ºC. The wet season is marked by short bursts of heavy rain, clearing to brilliant sunshine. The area lies at the southern edge of the hurricane belt, so Grenada has only been affected by 3 major hurricanes in the last 50 years. Hurricane season generally runs between July and September. Most tourists visit Grenada between January and May when it is warm and dry.
