Nadi Information

Situated on the west coast of Viti Levu, the town of Nadi (pronounced Nandi) is Fiji's third lagest population centre and home to Nadi International Airport. As the transport hub for most international travellers arriving or departing from the country, Nadi's Port Denarau Marina also serves as the jumping off point for travel to the Mamanuka and Yasawa island groups, whilst the 180 Km Queens Highway links Nadi with the capital Suva via the southern coast.

The town itself offers a number of attractions and facilities, not least of which is the lively market, the colourful Hindu temple situated at the southern end of town and the many restaurants and souvenir shops cramming the main street. Just out of town to the north, Wailoaloa Beach is home to a number of resorts and backpacker hotels and sports a lively party atmosphere.

Newtown Beach is also a popular stopover with backpackers, and only 10 minutes by bus from Nadi centre. For lovers of tropical gardens and plants - especially orchids, a trip out to the Nadi Garden of the Sleeping Giant will not disappoint. It has a number of easy walking trails which meander through beautifully tended plants, flowers and trees.

In contrast to Nadi, the nearby Denarau Island offers far more than boat transfers to the outer island groups. A number of operators offer day trips to some of the closer islands, including a trip on an old sailing ship to Mystery Island, and sunset cruises with dinner and entertainment. Many of the more upmarket international hotels also have luxury resorts on the island, whilst the Denarau Golf and Raquet Club sports one of Fiji's most popular golf courses.
