Mullion is the largest village on the Lizard Peninsula with an array of shops, inns, cafes, restaurants, craft shops and art galleries. The 15th-century church of St Mellanus is renowned for its richly carved oak bench carvings depicting biblical scenes.

Mullion Cove has a pretty working harbour, protected from the winter gales that rage across Mount's Bay by two stout sea walls. Most of the cliff, heath and coastal grassland south of Mullion Cove is managed by English Nature and the National Trust. This unique and botanically rich part of Cornwall is largely due to the maritime climate and the unusual nature of the schist and serpentine rocks which weathers down to a complex soil supporting a wide variety of plants, some found nowhere else in Britain.

Nearby Poldhu Cove is an ideal and easily accessible family beach. On 12 December 1901, on the cliffs above Poldhu, Guglielmo Marconi conducted his famous experiment in Trans-Atlantic radio communications. A monument commemorating this great achievement is on the cliffs above Poldhu and nearby is the Marconi Centre, built close to the foundations of the original Poldhu Wireless Station, which explores the story of Marconi and his place in history.
