Heart of England Information

The Heart of England, also known as the West Midlands has several distinct and fascinating regions guaranteed to keep any visitor busy.

Birmingham is the capital and in recent years has been modernised and is now a thriving modern centre filled with shopping, restaurants and bars while retainingit's down to earth and friendly english feel. The whole Heart of England region is well known for food, fantastic english fare with quality local produce but also influenced by multicultural population of the region. A Balti curry in Birmingham is a must in the area known as the Balti Triangle for many years due to the local indian and Pakistani chefs.

Shakespere from here and still many of the streets where he lived and worked can be walked, you can even still have a pint at his local.

Parts of the region were the cradle of the industrial revolution and places like the Galton Valley, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Sandwell host relics of the era which, together with the history of arts, make for endless options for sightseeing of museums, galleries and craft exhibitions.

Another famous part of the region is the Cotswolds, an area of stone cottages, manor houses, brilliant traditional pubs, villages and gardens. Just 100 miles from London the entire area of the Cotswolds has been designated an "Area of outstanding natural beauty".

Look a little more and visitors will discover the wonderful green countryside and markets of Herefordshire, the quiet beauty of Shropshire and the rugged nature and outdoor delights of Staffordshire and castles and culture of Worcestershire.

The heart of England has a great deal to offer any visitor, there is far too much to see and do for any one visit, and most will feel the urge to visit again and again.
