Whitsunday Island Information

Whitsunday Island is the largest of the 74 islands known as the Whitsunday Islands situated off the NE coast of Queensland. Although it is the largest at 19 x 13 klms, there is no accommodation on the island. Typically for the area, it is coral fringed with crystal clear water, white sands and idyllic, with Mount Whitsunday rising from a volcanic cliff.

There are several beautiful beaches where camping is permitted. However, Joes, Dugong and Sawmill Beaches are the only places with a water supply. Camping is booked through the Environmental Protection Agency.
