What there is to see and do More than 350 wildlife species are on display in brilliant botanical settings, just 4 kilometres from the CBD. Melbourne Zoo's magnificent new Trail of the Elephants Exhibit, which opened mid March, provides visitors with an amazing insight into the world of the Asian Elephant. Keeper Talks, new viewing opportunities, and fascinating displays make this a 'must-do' experience. The huge barn, the walking trails, and the deep pool will make this new exhibit a world's-best achievement for the Zoo! Other highlights at the Zoo include the African and Asian Rainforest displaying Gorillas, Pygmy Hippopotamus, Mandrills, Tigers, Otters and the World of Bugs and Butterflies. There is also an extensive collection of Australian animals including Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats, Platypus, Penguins and Seals.
