Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre Information

Nyinkka Nyunyu (pronounced ny-ink-a ny-oo ny-oo) is a fascinating and unique art, culture and interpretive centre, which offers visitors the opportunity to learn about Aboriginal life, history and land in the Tennant Creek region.

Sitting on Warumungu land, the centre's focus is the sacred creation site of the Nyinkka (spiky tailed goanna). View the informative three-dimensional displays created by Warumungu artists, reflecting their rich and diverse history. Learn about bush tucker and traditional medicines from the comprehensive display of bush foods.

For a deeper cultural experience, take a guided tour with one of their local guides, walking through the gallery/museum and then out through the landscaped aridzone gardens. Follow your tour with a relaxing visit to Jajjikari Cafe, renowned for good coffee, then browse the local artwork, crafts, books and CDs in the retail area.
