Once you arrive in Millicent a trip to the Millicent Visitor Information Centre is a must. The centre provides extensive up to date information on the region, souvenirs, local arts and crafts, maps, internet access and local publications. The centre also holds many displays and exhibitions as well as being the entrance to the award winning Living History Museum.

The award winning Living History Museum evolved around an old school house and has over twenty beautifully restored horse drawn vehicles, the largest collection in South Australia. Also included in the fantastic museum is the Shipwreck Room, a display replica of Aboriginal Rock Art unique to the district, a T-class locomotive and the exciting new interactive display of South East Drainage.

While in Millicent visit Lake McIntyre, a reclaimed quarry that has been fully rehabilitated into a natural wonderland of birds and native wildlife habitat. It's a terrific spot to stop for a family picnic and take a walk through the native foliage.

Off in the distance you can see the Woakwine Wind Farms, the largest wind farm development in the Southern Hemisphere. Well worth a closer look, the Woakwine Range Wind Farm Drive takes you right to the base of these engineering wonders as they generate power for the national grid. The drive also encompasses fantastic attractions such as Vistara Trout Farm, which has fresh fish, tours and other local produce for sale. Lake Bonney; South Australia's largest fresh water lake, and Canunda National Park, South Australia's second largest coastal park stretches 40 kilometres from Southend to Carpenter Rocks. This Park is a four-wheel driver's delight, encompassing spectacular walking trails, boardwalks and lookouts with splendid panoramic view of lakes, costal environments and wildlife.

Then head onto the rural town of Tantanoola and view the infamous Tantanoola Tiger that roamed the region killing numerous sheep during the 1880-90's before being shot in 1895. It was later identified as an Assyrian (European) wolf and has been carefully preserved and place on display at the Tantanoola Tiger Hotel, a great chance to grab a bite to eat, before heading to the Tantanoola Caves located 17 kilometres from Millicent. The Tantanoola Caves have been a tourist draw card since it was discovered 70 years ago when a young boy chased a rabbit into a hole and came across the spectacular chamber. You too can discover the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites in one of the only pink dolomite caves in Australia. The cave features ease access ramped walkways and allow wheelchair access.
