Situated 40 kilometres west of Casino, just of the Bruxner Highway, Mallanganee is one of the Kyogle Shire's rainforest gateways. One and a half hours drive from Ballina, and one hour from Lismore, the village is set just below the Richmond Range.
Views from the Mallanganee Lookout are spectacular, with Mt Warning visible on the eastern horizon. There are the rainforests and flora reserves close by, with the Mallanganee National Park itself being a very rare example of a dry land rainforest. This park contains rich diversity of plants and animals with World Heritage values. The paradise riflebird, regent bowerbird, red-crowned pigeon and noisy pitta are all part of the prolific bird life. There are picnic grounds and toilets on site.
