Event Dates: Saturday 5th of October 2013 to Sunday 6th of October 2013
The off-beat all-Australian sport of Goanna Pulling dates back to the 19th century. Contrary to the name, it is a test of strength between two people whereby contestants get down on all fours and are linked by a leather belt over their heads, enabling them to pull backwards, tug-of-war-style.
The Goanna Pulling Championship includes many other events: wood chopping, races for all ages, dog obedience trials, the Australian Tugo-of-War teams will compete, markets and food and drinks (as well as a beer tent) to make it a fun filled experience for all the family.
Clarence Valley Council are the major sponsors.
It has to be seen to be believed!
