Grose Valley is at the heart of the Blue Mountains National Park, a short drive from Lithgow. It can be viewed from several lookouts from the road but the best way to experience the valley is to take a bushwalk down into the valley to the Blue Gum Forest. This magnificent stand of gums was at the centre of the first conservation battle in NSW in 1931, resulting in almost the entire catchment becoming National Park.
Activities in the valley include bushwalking for seasoned and not so experienced bushwalkers. The descent into the valley is around 600 metres with the more difficult ascent on the way back. Easier walks can be found along the cliff tops. Canyoning in the many chasms and gorges created by the streams and rivers is also a popular pursuit as well as climbing and mountain biking.
