Gostwyck station, covering 80,000 acres, was one of the earliest squatter settlements in the area giving its name to Gostwyck Shire which eventually amalgamated with Uralla Town Council.
It is worth visiting for two important historical buildings. The first is the Deeargee Wool Shed. It was built in 1869 to an octagonal design with a unique 3 tier roof with glass ventilators providing the perfect environment for shearing. It is the oldest and largest shed in Australia and is still in use today. It is a National Trust registered building.
Gostwyck Chapel was built in 1921 as a memorial to Henry Gostwyck who died in 1918 of war related injuries. It is at the end of a fantastic avenue of 200 elms, and is covered in Virginia creeper. The best time to visit is Autumn.
