The family owned Gemtree Vineyards have 340 acres of premium vineyards in McLaren Vale and have been awarded five stars winery recognition by James Halliday for the past four years. Their award-winning wines such as Uncut Shiraz, Luna Roja Tempranillo, Moonstone Savagnin and Obsidian Shiraz are produced from their vines that are farmed with biodynamic practices and are fully certified organic.

Firmly establishing themselves as a family business, Gemtree Winery owners Paul and Jill Buttery along with daughter Melissa (site viticulturist) and son Andrew (managing director) have created a unique and socially conscious winery. Winemaker (and son-in-law) Mike Brown has conducted extensive experimentation with biodynamic wines and alternative winemaking practices with great results.

Situated in the heart of their vineyards are the stunning Gemtree Wetlands; an environmental initiative the Buttery clan have launched with Greening Australia to create an area of biodiversity as a major haven for native plants, frogs, birds and animals with six interlinking dams and 50,000 native species of flora planted over 10 hectares. The recent addition of an informative ecotrail and picnic and barbecue facilities makes this site a must-see for visitors to McLaren Vale!
