The Airing of the Quilts gala day in Northampton originated a decade or so ago, as a suggestion by a quilter “to air our quilts like they do overseas”. It has continued to become a traditional annual celebration to showcase the historical town of Northampton and the many quilters and textile artists of the area.
The day commences with quilts of all shapes, sizes, colours and creations blowing in the breeze throughout the town centre.
This year the guest town is Kalbarri, their work, along with exhibits by Aboriginal artists will be on display. Also a display of sewing machines dating back to 1893 and 1954, a tapestry and doll exhibition, demonstrations on lace making, market stalls of craft and accessories and children’s activities will be on throughout the day.
Come and enjoy a family day of entertainment enriched with history and culture. A fun filled event for all.
