Coorong National Park lies adjacent to the mouth of the River Murray and consists of a string of long, shallow, saline lagoons more than 100 kilometres in length, separated from the Southern Ocean by the sand dunes of the Younghusband Peninsula.
The Coorong is renowned as an area of national and international biological and historical significance. It is a habitat for numerous species of migratory birds and provides refuge for ducks, swans, cormorants, seagulls, terns, grebes and pelicans.
The park is also an archaeological site of national importance with middens and burial sites, evidence of Aboriginal occupation over many thousands of years.
Caravan Parks are located at Policemans Point, Kingston South East and Meningie.
Bush Camping is permitted, Camping fees are
AUD4.00 per car or boat, per night.
AUD2.50 per motorcycle, per night
AUD2.50 hiking/cyclist, per person per night

Camping Permits are required for people boating in the Coorong and staying overnight. Self registration stations are available at major campgrounds in the Coorong.
Pets and firearms are not permitted.
Wood fires and small cooking fires are permitted, subject to fire ban restrictions. Wood fires are allowed within the Coorong National Park. Always ensure that the fire is constructed at least four metres from any vegetation.
Wood for fires, collection of wood from the park is prohibited. Please bring your own supplies. Bagged wood is available for purchase from some local service stations.
Fire danger season November to April. Wood fires are not allowed in the Coorong National Park except on Ocean Beach, between the high and low water marks, during the fire danger season, but not on days of total fire ban.
