Cape Spencer marks the very tip of the Yorke Peninsula. From the edge of the cliff, the ocean stretches out towards Althorpe island. The serenity and isolation is disturbed only by the crashing waves against the rocks below.
The most popular landmark at Cape Spencer is the Cape Spencer Lighthouse. The original structure was an automatic beacon which was a simple metal box. This was in built in 1950. The structure as it stands today was built in 1970 and replaced its cousin which still sits on Althorpe island, visible from Cape Spencer.
Sheer cliffs sit just around the corner from the lighthouse; vertical walls shaped by a hundred million years of natural erosion. Once you've explored here delve deeper into the stunning Innes National Park.
