The Hotel is located minutes walk from the shopping malls and Riverside dining of Brisbane's Central Business District and a 10 minute or so walk to the entertainment precinct of Fortitude Valley/China Town. The cultural, dining and theatres of Southbank are within walking distance or accessible by cab or train. Central railway station is 300 metres from the Hotel front door.

The original building and the 1930's cage lift, which still services the Hotel, are heritage listed. In 1999 the heritage listed section of the building was transformed from medical chambers to hotel suites. An extension was added to the rear of the building that created more suites and a swimming pool with city views.

The suites within the heritage listed section of the building retain many original features, including magnificent silky oak wall panelling and doors, with their brass fittings.

In deference to the history of Brisbane and Queensland, the suites are named after significant people or places of interest including Burnett, Gympie, Ashdown, Lockyer, Kidman and Miles.
