Questacon Information

Be fascinated by the hands-on, interactive exhibits at Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre. Questacon should definitely be high on your must see list, especially if you're travelling with kids. But no matter what age you are, you'll be fascinated by the only place in Australia where you can free fall from six metres high and take the whole family on a virtual roller coaster ride. Go on a journey of discovery through seven different exhibition galleries. Experience an earthquake, see lightning made before your eyes and understand the science of tornadoes, throwing a ball or the physics of sound. There are more than 200 exhibits and they're changing all the time. Kids under the age of six are catered for with the specially designed Mini Q exhibition.

Current Exhibitions:

Gallery 1 - Sports Quest; learn about the physics and biology involved in sport.

Gallery 2 - Sideshow - the science behind the fun; this permanent gallery is a crowd favourite with it's 6m Free Fall and virtual rollercoaster.

Gallery 3 - Mini Q - fun for 0-6 year olds; a place where the little scientists can explore, role play and develop their learning skills.

Gallery 4 - Wavelength; learn about the properties of waves through light, sound, colour, vibrations and more.

Gallery 5 - Awesome Earth - the power and the beauty; discover the impact of natural phenomena on our planet.

Gallery 6 - Top Secret - license to spy; complete a secret mission using codes, lasers and other gadgets from the undercover world of spies.

Gallery 7 - Strike a Chord - the science of music; explore the universal language of music when you conduct a virtual orchestra or have a musical massage - this exhibition will close in June 2006.
